I tell people is that the main thing is not how often you talk to your CPA, but that your CPA is always available. You as the business owner need to talk to them whenever something comes up in your business where you need some advice and you need some planning.

When picking an account it's critical that you choose someone that responds to you. Probably the biggest thing we see when people leave an accountant is that the didn't return their calls or answer their questions in a timely fashion. It's important to have an accountant that knows your business, by talking to you, spending time with you, and looking over your records.

Then make sure you have somebody that that is available. If you need them, they are there. I tell people don't be afraid to ask questions throughout the year because a lot of times when you get to next year and you're doing your tax return it's too late. With our clients, we would much rather them call us before they make a decision, rather than finding out later that they made the wrong decision.
