"As a business owner, why should I use a CPA rather than H&R Block, Jackson Hewitt, or Turbo Tax?"
The biggest difference in one of the chain tax services and an accounting firm, is the chain tax service is going to take what you did last year and put it on a tax form, that's it. They're not going to advise you. They're not going to give you any tax strategies, whereas if you have a CPA and accounting firm you can work with them in the here and now, and also discuss the future of your business.
That's what's important when you own a business. By the time you get to spring and you're filing last year's taxes, it's too late to do anything about last year, those opportunities are gone. That's why it's important for a you as a business owner to have a relationship with an account that you can email, call, or text all year. As your business changes and opportunities come up, whether you're need to look at buying or leasing, hiring people, etc, it's important to talk to your accountant throughout the year for advice.
So again the biggest difference is having someone who can actually help you run your business versus having somebody that's just going to file your taxes.
